Each year, we strive to enhance our expertise to make a positive impact both on the pest management industry, the industries we serve and our direct clients, and 2019 was no exception. As the year comes to a close, we reflect on the enhanced education and training experiences, exciting changes in leadership, and opportunities to support industry organizations and our local communities 2019 brought with it.

In February, members of the Copesan team attended Legislative Day 2019 in Washington, D.C. During the Legislative Day events, Copesan’s Service Quality Manager, Dave Ramsey, was named PestVets Veteran of the Year. Ramsey served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1990 – 1994, and aided relief efforts in 1994 after an earthquake in Los Angeles, CA. PestVets, a National Pest Management Association (NPMA) committee, promotes and supports the recruitment of veterans to the association’s companies.

April
In April, Copesan’s Senior Directory of Quality, Field Operations & Training, Dominique Sauvage, presented at the NPMA’s PestWorld East 2019 conference held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The conference hosted 350 people from 35 countries. Sauvage spoke to attendees about developing better, effective pest control programs for third-party audited food processing accounts and construction sites.

In May, Deni Naumann, President, Copesan Services, Inc. / Interim President, Terminix Commercial announced her retirement. Aric Schroeder was named Vice President of National Accounts, Copesan and Terminix Commercial/General Manager of Copesan Services, Inc. Greg Rutherford was named President of Terminix Commercial. Schroeder and Rutherford officially took over responsibilities beginning in July.

As part of the ServiceMaster family of brands, on October 10, Copesan employees joined in on ServiceMaster’s annual We Care Day. Employees participated in a nationwide day of service by volunteering in their local communities. Team members from Copesan and Wil-Kil Pest Control spent the day helping organize and pack food at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI.
Celebrating the contributions and retirement of Deni Naumann
This fall, Copesan celebrated outgoing President Deni Naumann’s accomplishments throughout her 13 years in the industry and acknowledged her commitment to service excellence and immense contributions to pest management. During a reception held in honor of her retirement in October, ServiceMaster CEO Nik Varty announced ServiceMaster’s partnership with the NPMA’s Professional Women in Pest Management (PWIPM) group to fund an annual Deni Naumann Women in Pest Management Empowerment Grant. The grant will begin in 2020 and provides the opportunity for a female in any industry business role to compete for an all-expenses paid trip to attend NPMA’s annual PestWorld conference for educational purposes. The Naumann grant will be administered by NPMA’s Professional Women in Pest Management council and funded by ServiceMaster.

In November, Copesan, Terminix Commercial and Wil-Kil Pest Control team members had the opportunity to participate in a Food Defense training (FSMA), presented by Rod Wheeler of the Global Food Defense Institute. This day-long course was held at Copesan’s corporate headquarters in Menomonee Falls, WI. Clearly, winter came early in Wisconsin!

In December, Copesan team members participated in United Way’s Giving Tree program. Each year, Copesan is matched with a different charity and this year, gifts were sent to The Benedict Center in Milwaukee, WI. It was a great way to get in the holiday spirit and serve our community!
The Copesan team is so grateful to all our clients, service providers and employees for a wonderful year, and we wish everyone a happy holidays and healthy new year!
